New Automatic Meter Reading initiative
At the world’s busiest passenger port, an incredible 16 million passengers travel through every year. In April 2015, our Commercial Services Department completed the handover of the port’s Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system – a not inconsiderable operation in itself.
The system stretched across most of the town and presented the Affinity team with plenty of challenges, including climbing 30-metre tall light masts to fit repeaters (which allow us to bounce radio signals and get an accurate reading). And needless to say, the unpredictable British weather didn’t make it any easier for us!
Throughout this sizeable project, we maintained our good relationship with our customer and the end result worked out exactly as planned. In fact, we’ve now been asked to expand the AMR system to include private water meters and electricity meters too.
