What a brilliant year we’ve had, and to top it all off, last week we celebrated not one… but two remarkable wins at the UK Business Awards!
We were crowned the winner in the Best Place to Work category, and our Managing Director, Helen Gillett, was awarded the silver award in the Inspirational Leader category. You can check us out on the UK Business Awards website here.
Winning Best Place to Work!
We may be small, but we are mighty! We are only two years old, but in those two years, we have achieved an exceptional level of growth, we take employee wellbeing extremely seriously and have a strong focus on promoting positive mental health, with the ethos that happy employees provide better customer service – which was the foundation for our Best Place to Work entry. Winning this award is an amazing achievement for us. We are beyond thrilled to be recognised for our hard work in making sure AfB truly is the best place to work.

Helen’s mission to foster strong employee wellbeing at AfB stems from her own past experiences and personal stories around mental health. Helen has become a role model for normalising conversations around mental health and encouraging employees to manage a healthy work-life balance. Her belief that happy employees equate to happy customers is instilled in AfB’s company culture. Helen was delighted to be awarded Silver for Inspirational Leader on the night and we are all really proud!
On Monday morning, we gave our awards pride of place in the office for the rest of the team to see, along with a congratulations card (sporting our company colours of course!) made by Helen’s daughter.
