In our industry, we are small but mighty! We support customers throughout England, and are in the process of extending this into Scotland in the near future. We do the basics really well, providing a market leading level of customer service, for customers ranging in size from the local high street to international airports. We also work with our customers to find ways to use less water, generate less waste and become more sustainable

Main Purposes of Role
The HR Business Partner will act as a trusted partner to leaders in Affinity for Business delivering a people strategy that ensures our people are engaged, encouraged and enabled to do their best work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the business strategy by helping business leaders to identify, prioritise, and build organisational capabilities, behaviours, structures, and processes
  • Support line managers in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with the function or business strategy
  • Review key business performance targets and their related people implications with business leaders
  • Facilitate long-term change initiatives aligned with the strategic agenda
  • Lead the HR vision, including role modelling great personal and team leadership and taking an active role in ensuring the People Strategy is embedded successfully
  • Help business leaders in providing employees with development opportunities that align with current and future performance standards
  • Develop and promote ongoing feedback mechanisms for employees to influence the continuous improvement of People services and processes
  • Provide expert advice and coaching to employees and leaders when appropriate
  • Understand and solicit employee opinions and anticipate their needs and concerns
  • Review and benchmark the internal and external environment to improve HR policies and initiatives
  • Use data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of tools and policies and understand the landscape for further improvement
  • Continuously build knowledge of progressive people practices and key trends
  • Facilitate a strong leadership and coaching culture to anticipate and pre-empt organisational issues • Manage specific projects as determined in the People strategy and contribute to functional and cross-functional initiatives

Skills/Qualifications Required

  • 10+ years’ generalist HR experience, 5 of which being at HR Manager level
  • Line management experience
  • You need to be collaborative, adept at getting the best out of individuals and teams and able to see beyond targets to secure quality business outcomes
  • You need to be a good listener, as well as an influencer and negotiator
  • You need to be able to inspire the wider business to want to do the right things for people and the business, not just chase a target at any cost
  • You are a good coach, helping others to develop and grow
  • You are resilient and resourceful, a good problem solver and facilitator
  • You like a challenge, but your approach is ‘how can I help?’, more than ‘what’s in it for me?’
  • You are good at taking decisions at reasonable speed, having assessed the risks and understood the options
  • You want to enjoy work and be able to be yourself in the workplace, whoever you are – you are inclusive in your approach and value diversity in others
  • You are a good communicator, able to present well in both written and oral media
  • You are digitally literate and open-minded. You also have strong proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • You can think and act tactically without losing sight of the longer term and more strategic view
  • University degree
  • Desirable but not essential – CIPD, or equivalent educational achievement (Level 7) plus experience
  • Experience business partnering across people disciplines, including leadership development, reward, performance management, change management, TUPE & restructuring
